With another hot summer on the horizon, can your cooling system handle the pressure?
For many food and beverage manufacturers, temperature control is critical to product quality and process efficiency. When cooling capacity is unable to keep up with rising temperatures and peak summer conditions, production can face delays, reduced output, and operational disruption.
That was the challenge facing a food and beverage processing plant. Higher ambient temperatures made it increasingly difficult to achieve the cooling temperatures required for its carrot juice production process. With production continuity at stake, the customer required a temporary chiller rental solution that could be deployed quickly and performed reliably under demanding conditions.Maintaining consistent process cooling in a carrot juice production plant required more than additional cooling capacity. The solution needed to keep carrot by-products and process contaminants isolated from the chiller circuit, protecting the rental equipment while ensuring efficient cooling performance.
Rand Air rapidly deployed a 550kW temporary rental chiller with a heat exchanger system tailored to the customer's application. Designed specifically for the carrot juice production process, the solution enabled chilled water to cool the carrot process water without direct contact between the two systems, protecting the chiller from contamination while delivering reliable temperature control, efficient cooling performance, and production continuity.
During operation, the heat exchanger experienced blockages caused by carrot pulp accumulation, as routine cleaning was not being carried out on site. Rather than allowing this to impact production, Rand Air's technical teams responded quickly whenever assistance was required, cleaning the system and restoring optimal performance. A proactive maintenance schedule was then implemented to reduce future disruptions and ensure consistent cooling throughout the rental period.
The 550kW temporary chiller rental solution successfully provided the cooling capacity needed to maintain production throughout the hottest months of the year, helping the customer continue operations without disruption.
For our customers, the takeaway is simple: when temperature control is critical to production, a fast and flexible cooling solution can help avoid costly disruption. With peak summer temperatures placing added pressure on cooling infrastructure, businesses should assess whether existing systems can meet seasonal demand. Whether it's planned support, capacity constraints, or an unexpected cooling challenge, Rand Air's chiller rental solutions help keep production running when it matters most.
